Start an Online Business without any Skill or Knowledge (The LLT Approach)

Start an Online Business without any skill and knowledge

Many people want to build an online business/blog to teach something they like and make an income from it. But as soon as they start thinking about it, they get stuck. They tell themselves:

I don’t have any particular knowledge or skill that I could teach. I mean, I like {topic they like} but I couldn’t imagine myself teaching it, and even less monetizing it

Sounds familiar?

If you think that, it’s probably because you believe that you need some kind permissions or credentials to teach something online. Truth is most of the time you don’t (there are some exceptions though. Eg: the medical sector and financial sector for example).

If you think that only the experts can build businesses and teach something, you are wrong.

Actually, here’s something I want you to always keep in mind:

You can start a successful online business without any skill, knowledge or experience. All you need is a willingness to learn and share what you learn with other people.

You see, most people start a business with the following approach in mind:

start a business with the expert approach

The Expert Approach: A guy has an expertise and a great experience in a particular field. He builds an online business and teaches people what he knows. He’s the expert who shares his knowledge with his students.

This approach works great, but what if you don’t have anything to teach? What if you don’t have any particular skill or knowledge to sell? Does that mean you can’t build an online business? Of course, not! You just need to follow a different approach. Try this instead:

The let's learn together approach

Instead of positioning yourself as an expert on the market, position yourself as a complete newbie who wants to learn about something and who shares his experience along the way to help other people. I call this approach the LLT Approach (Let’s Learn Together Approach). This is a very honest approach to start a business because you are completely transparent right from the start.

Too many online entrepreneurs try to pretend that they are experts in their field but the problem is that most of them are not. They just sell the wrong story. What they forget is that they can’t lie to the market. The truth always comes to light. So if you openly tell the truth when starting a business, people will trust you and love you for it! Plus it will differentiate yourself from the market. There are too many “experts” and “gurus” out there who “know everything”. People are sick of them. Positioning yourself as a newbie who shares his/her authentic experience, will make you stand out.

Some very successful entrepreneurs are the living proof that the LLT Approach works. Here are few of them:

Pat Flynn – Smart Passive Income: Pat Flynn has followed this approach to build the Smart Passive Income. Even if he ran Green Exam Academy before building the Smart Passive Income, he didn’t know much about online businesses when he first started. So right from the start he positioned himself  as “the crash test dummy of online business”.

Pat's approach

In other words as the guy who experiments things and share what he learns along the way. This approach now makes him more than 100K/month.

Bryan Harris – Video Fruit: Bryan is another great example of entrepreneur who follows the LLT approach. On his website, Video Fruit, he shares his experiments. He writes very detailed posts about what works for him and what doesn’t. This approach made him more than $200,000 during his last product launch.

Laurent Breillat – Apprendre la photo: Laurent is a french blogger who wanted to teach photography. When he first started, he didn’t know anything about that topic. When he launched his blog, he was completely transparent and said that he didn’t know much about photography but that he wanted to learn about that topic and share his experience. He now has a multi-million dollar business.

You don’t need to be an expert to start an online business and teach something. You just need to start learning something and share your experience along the way.

Now if you want to follow the LLT Approach to build your online business, there are a few things that you need to do first to make it work. I wrote a step-by-step guide to walk you through this process. You can download it below – it’s free:

Thanks so much for this, Simon. I’ve been following Pat for a while and thought his approach to be different from most. Now I understand. Also, thanks for finally helping me to understand that I don’t need to be an expert. I will definitely be considering the LLT approach.
