How a girl became self-made millionaire by 15

self made millionaire

This story is about Ashley Qualls, certainly one of the most famous self-made millionaire teenagers.

Everything started in 2004, at the age of 14. After studying for a few years HTML the young girl launched a website named Whateverlife.com.
Basically Ashley developed an online portfolio where she offered free MySpace layout and tutorials for other teenagers.

At that time MySpace was booming and everybody wanted to customize his/her online profile.

By 2005 with only the word of mouth for advertising, Ashley managed to get a lot of traffic on her website that she started to monetize  with Google Adsense.

As Whateverlife became so popular, an undisclosed bidder offered her $1.5 million together with the car of her choice. She turned the offer down and kept running her website.

Her business grew so fast that she started to need both new premises and some people to hire. So the young girl bought a $250,000 house and chooses her friends to help her.

Here is her story in video

I wonder where she is now? Has she gone the same way as Myspace?
I’d prefer to build my wealth based on sustainability and scalability.

I guess so, her business really depended on Myspace. But that’s not bad for her girl of her age 😉

I wouldn’t knock back $1m to sell a highly unavailable business!

    $1m earning 5% p.a. would be gold!

Wow – I wish my 15 year old daughter would take a lesson from this. But she wouldn’t listen even if I tried 🙂

I think she knew better than what $1.5 million & a car of dream wouldn’t do to her near future and so she insisted and persist to extreme. Great story love to see more of story. 🙂
